Trade the world’s most liquid equity index futures — E-mini and Micro S&P 500, Nasdaq-100, Russell 2000, Dow, and major global indices — with direct market access and boutique broker support.
Equity index futures are the most actively traded products in the futures markets, and for good reason: they offer deep liquidity, near-24-hour access, capital efficiency, and clean exposure to broad equity benchmarks without the single-stock risk. Wisdom Trading provides direct access to U.S. and global index futures through three top-tier FCMs, with no proprietary desk competing against your orders.

How traders use index futures
Directional exposure. Go long or short a broad benchmark in a single, capital-efficient instrument, around the clock during the trading week.
Portfolio hedging. Offset the market risk of a stock portfolio without selling the underlying holdings or triggering taxable events.
Spreads and relative value. Express views on small-cap vs. large-cap (RTY vs. ES), growth vs. value (NQ vs. YM), or U.S. vs. international indices through exchange-supported spreads.
Systematic strategies. Index futures are a core market for trend-following, momentum, and short-term systematic programs because of their liquidity and clean intraday structure.

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between E-mini and Micro E-mini contracts?
Micro E-mini contracts are one-tenth the size of the standard E-mini. An MES is $5 per index point versus $50 for the ES, which lets traders size positions more precisely and access the same markets with less capital.
What hours do index futures trade?
CME equity index futures trade nearly 24 hours a day, Sunday evening through Friday afternoon (U.S. Central Time), with a brief daily maintenance break. Global index futures follow their home-exchange sessions.
How are index futures taxed?
U.S. broad-based index futures are generally taxed under Section 1256, which provides 60/40 long-term/short-term treatment regardless of holding period. Confirm specifics with a CPA familiar with futures.
Past performance is not necessarily indicative of future results. The risk of loss in trading futures and options is substantial and not suitable for all investors. Contract specifications are set by the exchanges and subject to change.
